Architecture of Cootehill, Cavan
Cootehill was founded in 1700 by Thomas Coote who was married to Frances Hill, daughter of the Marquess of Downshire, Hillsborough, Co. Down and the town contains their names. The ancestral home of the Coote family, Bellamont House, is an excellent example of a Palladian style mansion.
