Elgin Road, Ballsbridge, Dublin
Named after James Bruce (1811-63), 8th Earl of Elgin, Governor General of India 1861. Another of the fine red brick terraces in the Ballsbridge area referred to as the "Red Roads" by Elizabeth Bowen in her autobiography Seven Winters. Many of these streets had names of military origin and were built between 1846 and 1857.
