Architecture of Dundalk, Louth

Dundalk is Louth's county town, and is situated near the border between the Republic and Northern Ireland. Reputedly the home of the legendary hero Cuchulainn, Dundalk is now a prosperous industrial town which prospered during the nineteenth century with the development of the railways. Dundalk had a thriving railway works where many engines and carriages were constructed.. One of Dundalk's most important buildings is St Patrick's Church (known as the Cathedral to the locals) in Francis Street, based on King's College Chapel in Cambridge.
