The new look giant ''glass'' skyscraper plan for George's Quay in Dublin was unveiled yesterday. Borg Developments has reduced the height of the huge, transparent glass tower office building to comply with planning conditions but nevertheless it will soar 73.7 metres (240 ft approx) over the city. The redesigned plan for the skyscraper offices and apartments opposite the Custom House was put on display yesterday, accompanied by a new, Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) requested by Bord Pleanala. The development has been opposed by local residents and the planning board will hear an appeal against the decision by Dublin Corporation to grant planning permission. The EIS reveals that the height of the tallest building has now been cut from 80m to 73.7 metres, in 18 storeys. The redesigned plan involves two high-rise office blocks, 166 apartments, shops and a pub in restored railway arches, a fitness centre and 180 parking spaces.
