Public protest does not come easily to the determinedly discreet residents of Tritonville Road in Dublin's Sandymount. In fact there are those who argue the sash windows are far too tightly shut to allow the community spirit necessary for outpourings of public annoyance. All that changed last week as the irredeemably middle class discovered the power of protest. Public pressure mounted by a group of concerned residents in Sandymount, Dublin together with the help of An Taisce has secured a two-week stay on the demolition of a 19th century Presbyterian church.
