The consortium behind the controversial £1.2bn National Conference Centre plan for Dublin's Docklands has appealed against planning permission granted by Dublin Corporation.
And opponents of the project including prominent businessman Dermot Desmond and the Irish Financial Services Centre have also appealed the decision to An Bord Pleanala, the Irish Independent learned last night.
Both the promoters, the Spencer Dock Company and Mr Desmond have sought a public oral hearing into the decision, and it seems certain that such an inquiry will now be held. A number of community groups opposed to the project have also formally lodged an appeal.
