Desmond lambasts 'frightening' impact of £1.2bn complex design

Prominent businessman Dermot Desmond has warned of the 'frightening' impact of the controversial £1.2bn National Conference Centre development planned for Dublin's docklands. A submission on his behalf just lodged with An Bord Pleanala, appealing against planning permission granted by Dublin Corporation for the skyscraper development at Spencer Dock, calls it 'a fortress-type development.' It describes the buildings design as 'inspired by American corporate architecture' and 'inappropriate in the context of an historic European city,' the Irish Independent has learned
