The new Chester Beatty Library at Dublin Castle will be officially opened on February 7 ushering in a new era for the renowned cultural facility formerly based at Shrewsbury Road. Phase One of this project started in 1994 with the restoration and extension to the Clock Tower Building in Dublin Castle. This first contract was completed in November 1995, while the second-phase for the Chester Beatty Library commenced in January 1999. Total development cost amounts to £11m (£5m for the Clock Tower and £6m for the Chester Beatty extension/fit-out).
