The Taoiseach Bertie Ahern last night sensationally branded the 1.2bn National Conference Centre skyscraper plan for Dublin a 'monstrosity'. His comments came as a major Bord Pleanala planning inquiry is held into the Spencer Dock development which includes the Government-supported National Conference Centre and are bound to anger the backers of the scheme.
