Collapse of Handel arch could mean £1m fine
Dublin Corporation is investigating the collapse last week of an historic protected arch in Dublin's Fishamble Street on the site of an apartment development owned by Temple Bar Properties. TBP could now be fined as much as £1 million if found guilty of a breach of new legislation designed to protect such historic structures. The 19th century arch marked the spot where the original entrance to the music hall where Handel's Messiah was first performed.
