The incoming president of the Royal Institute of Architects in Ireland (RIAI) Mr Arthur Hickey has questioned the ability of local authorities to deliver on the development of sustainable housing targets contained in the National Development Plan. Mr Hickey said the Republic was heading for major social and environmental problems unless changes were made to the way housing developments were planned.
