Preserving our industrial archaeology

The Sunday Business Post

There are not many people to whom the great ESB cooling towers which loom up out of the midland bogs of Co Offaly, are objects of beauty. But while most people find them grotesque and look forward to their removal from the skyline, others, who enthuse about industrial heritage, say some of them should be preserved as a reminder of our 'peat burning' energy. It is worth asking the question: what did our forebears make of the industrial buildings of their time?
