A couple yesterday told a Bord Pleanala hearing how they have had a severe loss of privacy since the observation tower on the Distillery chimney at Smithfield opened. Michael and Moira Heery said virtually every time they look out the back of their home at North King Street they can see people in the tower looking directly into their house sometimes with binoculars and cameras.He was speaking at a Bord Pleanala hearing into the granting of planning permission for a huge residential complex in the Smithfield area, which will include a 23-storey high apartment block.
