Major change on objections to planning

The Irish Independent

One of the lesser known aspects of the new Planning and Development Act which was brought in last summer is the thorny issue of objections to planning applications. In the past, it was adequate for an objector to a proposal to submit the objection once the planning authority for the area had made its decision. Now however, be warned that this objection process has changed and drastically from a neighbour relations point of view. In the past, the objector could, to some degree, depend on the local authority to throw out a proposal if it breached the rules, or if it was to provide major inconvenience for adjoining occupiers.
