The new Fingal County Hall complex in Swords, Co Dublin is winning widespread acclaim as one of our finest "new generation" buildings. The complex is showcased in a cover story in the latest issue of the RIAI journal "Irish Architect." An international open competition was held to design Fingal County Hall, with an area of 11,240 sq m and a budget of £13.2m. The building was completed in September last. The new complex consists of a council chamber, a civic space in which the public meets and conducts business with county officials and office accommodation for the 450 employees of the council, divided into thirteen departments.
