Docklands tower poses no problem

The Irish Independent

A landmark tower building in Dublin's Docklands would pose no problem to the Corporation. But the planning authority feels that the design of the national conference centre needs a major re-think. Meantime, the Carlton Group - planning a £150m development on O'Connell St - has come up with a high-tech plan to link a city centre conference centre with the proposed Spencer Dock facility. In its submission on the extended Custom House Docks planning scheme prepared by the Dublin Docklands Development Authority, the Corporation says that a feature tower building of 60m - 100m at the eastern extremity of North Wall Quay would be acceptable (subject to an acceptable design proposal and taking account of the recommendations of the Dublin Corporation High Buildings Study).
