The historic entrance to Dublin Castle is in for an update, with plans by Dublin Corporation to construct a dramatic new glass and granite building close by. Councillors at a South East area committee heard of plans by city fathers to construct a five-storey office block adjacent to the well-known Sick and Indigent Roomkeepers' Society building on Palace Street, leading to Dublin Castle. Officials said the 943-square metre building, will address Palace Street, Dame Street and the Millennium Park, which will be renovated as a stone-paved public space creating a forecourt for City Hall.
