Lightening the load of living in a box
Architecture, according to the Japanese designer Fumihiko Maki, is a "presence", which just might arrive and take up residence in your building if the conditions are right. It can inhabit the tiniest of spaces. And it doesn't come much smaller than the 11 square metre "glass box" extension to a red-brick, terraced house in Dublin's inner city, designed by Hassett Ducatez Architects.
