'Wrong' razing of 1930s office block sparks call for more protection
Lovers of historic buildings should press for increased protection orders, a city councillor urged last night. The call came from Dublin Cllr Ciaran Cuffe after the Wiggins Teape building was demolished on East Wall, on Saturday. It later emerged the Art Deco structure was not on Dublin Corporation's protected structures list, leaving people powerless to save the 1930s office block.
