A proposal to turn a unique listed building in north Co Dublin into a pub has provoked strong opposition. Developer Gerry Gannon has already applied to build 140 apartments within the grounds of the landmark "Casino House" on the main road into Malahide. A "List One" building, putting it on the highest rung of protected structures, it has a unique thatched front roof and was until relatively recently a family home.
