Pearse Street is one of those Dublin thoroughfares that is familiar to everyone, but largely ignored and neglected. It is a main traffic artery carrying a great volume of vehicles towards the centre and over the river Liffey to the north city and on to Fairview, Howth and Dublin airport. A neglected street, many of its buildings are run down or derelict. Yet Pearse Street lies at the very heart of Dublin, bounding Trinity College on the north and within a few minutes' walk of every facility of the city. It is close to the International Financial Services Centre, the fine new Markievicz swimming pool on Townsend Street and the rest of the amenities of the southside.
