Since the early years of the foundation of this state, the Department of Posts and Telegraphs, now An Post, has produced a fine collection of postage stamps, the design of which has always been of a very high standard. There is much talk of closing post offices and of nationalising services, but very little is said about the rich postal history of Ireland including the wonderful shopfronts and old interiors, as well as the large number of fine postboxes that ornament our streets and roadsides.
