Council may pursue Desmond over refurbishment of Merrion Square house

Dublin City Council is considering taking enforcement proceedings against Dermot Desmond's Illium Properties Ltd over alleged breaches of planning conditions during the refurbishment of 71 Merrion Square, formerly the home of the late fashion designer Sybil Connolly. After a site inspection of the four-storey over basement Georgian house in March, planning enforcement officer Stephen Masterson recommended that legal proceedings under Section 160 of the Planning and Development Act 2000 be instituted.
