Council moves to convert green space to granite

Dublin's Dame Street will lose its green space when the city council builds an office block on a landmark public garden. The grass, flowers, statues and fountain of the Dublin Millennium Garden have been enjoyed as a roadside oasis of tranquility for the past 15 years. Instead a tall, glass-fronted, five-storey office block will be built on the space which will be rented out or sold by the city council.
