Canopy plan for city's historic fruit market

The Irish Independent

One of Dublin's famous landmarks, the Moore Street market, is to get a makeover. Dublin City Council is investigating the feasibility of putting a canopy over a length of the street, re-organising the trading stalls and introducing modern lighting and paving. The revamp of the open-air fruit and flower market has been given extra impetus because the miserable summer weather has badly hit trade, especially with tourists. A spokesman for the council said it was looking at the possibility of putting a canopy over Moore Street from Henry Street to the Ilac Shopping Centre.
