City's €4m monument no longer just a shiny dream

The Irish Independent

The Spire - aka the Spike - is finally being erected in Dublin's O'Connell Street this week. Dogged by controversy over the past three years and a High Court challenge, the first section of the €4m Spike is finally being installed within the next few days, the Irish Independent has learned. Located at the site of the former Nelson's Pillar landmark, the 120 metres high needle-like monument will tower over the Dublin skyline.
