€6m bridge bill may double
A bridge across the River Liffey could end up costing more than twice the €6.4m original construction price. Contractors working on the project have submitted substantial claims to Dublin City Council - in addition to the cost of the bridge, which is now running at almost €9m. The bridge, due to be officially called the James Joyce Bridge, was designed by the internationally renowned Spanish architect Dr Santiago Caltrava Valls and will open later this month - on June 16, Bloomsday.
