The €58.5m Kildare County Council civic offices is now firmly under way despite some heavy local flak, mainly over projected costs. The design blueprint includes a number of pioneering energy saving design concepts. Local councillors finally gave the go ahead recently for the new 11,750 sq m HQ facility to house 430 staff. The foundation stone for the new civic offices was duly laid on Monday by Mayor Jim Reilly and council members. The decision to go-ahead proved controversial, however.
