Rathmines reinvention has people at its heart

The Irish Times

Rathmines village in south Dublin is to have a new focus with a redeveloped swimming-pool and a complex of public spaces and apartments. Good architects have the ability to resolve a variety of conundrums in the one project. For this reason some clients are not just using architects' skills on building design alone. Governments and local authorities are recognising the valuable contribution architects can make to urban planning. Many areas of Ireland are seeking a new identity as cities increase in size and urban neighbourhoods that once looked to the city centre for their social and commercial needs now want to create a sense of their own place.
