A new study on the state of Ireland's historic houses to be launched by the Taoiseach next Saturday includes a number of houses from the greater Dublin area. Due to an amalgam of economic, political and social reasons, only a very small proportion of historic houses survive in Ireland today in the ownership of their original families.
