Abbey and mansion join Great Wall on endangered list
Two Irish properties yesterday joined the Great Wall of China on an official list of the world's 100 most endangered sites. Athassel Abbey near Golden, Co Tipperary, and Headfort House, Kells, Co Meath, have been included in the World Monument Fund 2004 Watch List of 100 Most Endangered Sites. The list launched yesterday by Environment Minister Martin Cullen in Dublin is selected by an independent panel of experts. A total of 195 places worldwide were considered.
