UCD to fund expansion by mortgaging city landmark
UCD is to mortgage its three-acre site on Dublin's Earlsfort Terrace if the Government is unable to fund a €45m move by its medical students to the Belfield campus. The National Concert Hall, part of the complex, will not be affected as it has a 99-year lease on the premises. One possibility is that Earlsfort Terrace could become the new National Convention Centre. The Office of Public Works (OPW) advertised for tenders recently and interested bidders must nominate a site.
