The Carlisle Pier redevelopment shortlist was not short of controversy - with designs submitted among others by controversial Polish-born architect who designed the World Trade Centre replacement blueprint. Polish-born Daniel Libeskind has had to face heavy flak for his design masterplan for Ground Zero in New York. This included allegations that his original design was technically unfeasible and economically impractical. The entire saga resurfaced again in this country coincidentally as the judges met yesterday to finally select a winning design for the Carlisle Pier redevelopment in Dun Laoghaire, Co Dublin.
