An €80m development with a 19-storey skyscraper as its centrepiece has been proposed for Cork's docklands region. Planning permission for the project, which aims to breathe life into the long-neglected area of the city, will be sought in the next few weeks. The site earmarked for the project is in the Water Street area, which was the city's business hub in the 18th and 19th centuries. The surrounding docklands have largely lain idle for over 50 years and the current project aims to exploit the city's famous river frontage.
