The area around the Dublin Fruit and Vegetable Market on St Michan's Street in Smithfield is set for redevelopment following the decision by several traders operating in the market to relocate to a more accessible site on the north side of the city. The Dublin Markets Business Group, which represents many of the traders, has appointed a team to identify a 20-acre site close to the M50 and Dublin Airport to accommodate a 28,000-square-metre purpose-built facility. The team includes auctioneers Hamilton Osborne King, architects Traynor O'Toole, project managers 4 Front, and quantity surveyors Kerrigan Sheanon Newman.
