Top architects condemn 'our crazy Carry on Planning' laws

The Irish Independent

An absurd 'Carry on Planning' policy by some local authorities has been condemned by the country's architects. The Royal Institute of the Architects of Ireland (RIAI) said the inconsistencies in the planning system were causing frustration and alienation among building professionals and ordinary people alike as well as imposing unnecessary extra financial costs. The RIAI claims one county council invalidated a planning application because the architect's site notice did not contain the words "site notice", while another council invalidated an application because the signature on it had faded and was illegible.
