The approach to Sligo city at the Carraroe roundabout is to be radically transformed following the decision this week by Sligo County Council to grant planning permission for a massive retail park and ten storey office block at Carrickhenry, Tonafortes. This follows recent approval by An Bord Pleanala for the county's first skyscraper hotel on a nearby site. With the completion of the new inner-relief road, including two fly-overs at Carraroe, scheduled for next year, the entrance to the city from the South of the county will take on a spectacular aspect. Development company, Daybleak Properties, are promoting both projects which will cost in the region of € 100m to build and will provide hundreds of jobs during construction and when the two developments come into operation.
