The Government is to extend and refurbish the National Gallery of Ireland. The extension will include two further new interconnecting buildings following the recent hugely successful launch of the new Millennium Wing. The project has been outlined in a tender notice by the Office of Public Works at www.etenders.gov.ie "The National Gallery of Ireland is housed in a composite building, part modern, part historic," the Government notice states. "The works involve the refurbishment of the historic buiding (not the newly constructed Millennium Wing) and the construction of two new buildngs, both to connect existing structures. The application deadline is December 19 with the tender deadline on Jan 9, 2006. The government is seeking architectural, quantity surveying, mechanical/electrical, structural engineering services and fire safety consultancy services.
