New laws to improve buildings' energy efficiency

The regulations follow on the publication of the Building Control Bill and are part of a series of measures which the Government is taking to improve energy efficiency and meet its Kyoto Protocol commitments on reducing C02 emissions. Environment Minister Dick Roche said the Building Regulations have been amended to incorporate higher thermal performance/insulation standards for new non-domestic buildings from July 1, 2006 onwards.
