A top soccer club is to get a new stand as part of a €75m skyscraper development at one of Dublin's oldest shopping centres. Bord Pleanala gave the green light for the redevelopment of the Phibsboro Shopping Centre and the surrounding area on the city's northside. It involves construction of 210 apartments in seven blocks rising up to eight storeys, and a new shopping mall. Two eight-storey apartment blocks will tower over the area despite local objections from a number of residents' associations. Bord Pleanala has scaled back the development with a number of one-bedroom apartments being amalgamated to form two-bedroomed apartments, and others being dropped. Bohemians soccer club are getting a new three-storey stand at Dalymount Park beside the shopping centre as part of the development. The new stand will cater for 400 spectators and will include corporate boxes.
