Planning sought for €450m project in Cork city

The Irish Times

The redevelopment of Cork city centre took a significant step forward yesterday with the lodging of a planning application for a €450 million project on St Patrick Street. The development on the site of the Irish Examiner's offices and adjacent properties will see the addition of 18,580sq m (200,000 sq ft) of retail to the city centre along with the creation of the first residential and retail street in more than 200 years. According to O'Callaghan Properties, the development will create more than 1,400 full-time and part-time jobs in the retail complex while 500 jobs will be created during the construction phase, which is expected to take two years.
