Irish Architecture Foundation seeks Administrator

The Irish Architecture Foundation is a focal point for the many people and organisations who wish to champion the power of architecture and urban design to transform lives and improve the places where we live and work. The foundation inspires people to become thoughtful and engaged stewards of the built environment. We do this by running a number of activities aimed at a broad public.

Applications are invited for the position of Administrator with the Irish Architecture Foundation. The newly appointed Administrator will have a role to play in all areas of the functioning of the Foundation. The position presents a challenging opportunity to play a significant role in the development of a new and dynamic organisation.

The successful candidate must be motivated, organised and willing to take on a wide variety of responsibilities. Good communications skills and the ability to work alone or part of a team are essential. Knowledge of computers is desirable. An informed interest in architecture is also desirable, but not essential.

General office administration to include:

  • Communication including dealing with all phone, e-mail and postal queries and other correspondence.
  • Financial administration including maintaining income and expenditure records, tax clearance certificate application, requesting financial draw-downs from supporting agencies, preparing and issuing payments, banking.
  • Supporting board and committee activities including minute taking and minute and document circulation (via e-mail).
  • Records management including maintenance of all current and semi-current office files, and proper disposition of non-current material.
  • Data-entry including up-dating such administrative databases and financial packages as may be in use by the IAF.
  • Such other duties as may from time-to-time arise.

    Overlapping with and expanding upon general office administration, the Administrator's duties will enable the delivery of IAF objectives by supporting specific activities to include for example:

    Loving Architecture: while the programme will be established by IAF Director/Board the Administrator will have responsibility for core aspects of programme delivery including:

  • Organisation of specific IAF events (launches, lectures etc).
  • Day-to-day programme/events co-ordination.
  • Liaising with all participating organisations.
  • Up-dating Festival website.
  • Distribution of publicity material.
  • Management of such temporary/short-term staff as may be required to ensure festival delivery

    Virtual Architecture Centre: content for the web-site will be set by the committee appointed by the Board, but the Administrator will be responsible for up-dating that content and in particular for maintaining the Architecture Diary section.

    Open Door: co-ordination with participating property owners/agencies, preparation and distribution of co-ordinated literature, managing booking system, collating feed-back.

    It is envisaged that the post will be part-time: normal hours will be 10 am to 2 pm but flexibility will be required outside these hours from time to time.
