A Ballymurphy bunscoil is in the running for a prestigious architecture award for their beautiful new building. Bunscoil an tSleibhe Dhuibh is amongst just six finalists from the North nominated for this year’s prestigious Royal Institute of British Architects award. The winner will be announced in the plush surrounds of the London Hilton Hotel on June 23. The striking building, which has at its centre a spacious, light-soaked inner courtyard, was completed in January 2005, enabling the school’s pupils to move out of the dilapidated prefabricated classrooms they formerly occupied. Principal of the Bunscoil, Pilib Mistéil, is delighted with the new school and believes that the building is worthy of the nomination.
