Dublin Fringe Festival (DFF) is Ireland’s leading multi-disciplinary festival of contemporary performing arts, providing an annual platform for the most innovative and fresh theatre, visual arts, dance, live art, mixed media and music.
This year as part of the DFF Visual Arts strand, we are erecting a major art installation into the heart of Dublin City. The installation will consist of a 100 curated lanterns attached to lampposts along the Liffey River from Gratton Bridge to the IFSC (Spiegeltent). The lanterns should symbolise a series of individual wishes from the artists for the city of Dublin, expressing the city’s need for more warmth and light. All stylistic expressions are welcome: comical, abstract, naturalistic, spiritual... think outside the box with your design!
There will be a financial reward for the 40 best lantern design. Also the best 10 designs will be rewarded with golden tickets to the Fringe Festival and one lantern will receive the 500 Euro for Best Fringe Design Award.
Each lantern will have a plaque with the name of the artist and the meaning/ message/ background of the lantern in maximum 50 words.
