Douglas Wallace and RIAI introduce 'Designing for Safety'

Hugh Wallace, John Graby, Cathal Mooney.

Douglas Wallace Architects and Designers and the RIAI have announced the launch of a new CPD programme entitled 'Designing for Safety'. The course is aimed at furthering issues relating to health and safety within architectural practice. The intensive half-day course is a safety course designed by architects for architects.

Cathal Mooney, MIOSH, head of health and safety at Douglas Wallace, was responsible for the development of the course with the RIAI. "The course will use up to date and live case studies to highlight issues for designers when it comes to making safe design decisions". 'Designing for Safety' qualifies as a certified RIAI CPD programme. "We hope that this course will be seen as an invaluable tool for architects and designers moving forward". John Graby, director of the RIAI, commented "The course explains and clearly marks the beginning and end of the health and safety role of the designer in the building process".
