Hatching a building to match company's philosophy

The Irish Times

Anyone taking the Luas into the centre of Dublin from the southside will have seen the raising of copious quantities of glazing above the old Harcourt Station and Pod nightclub. If you take a turn along Hatch Street, around the corner, you will see how this vast building, designed by KMD Architecture, extends along the street. Yet this giant has been sliced into people-friendly portions within by HKR Architects' interiors division at the request of its client Hibernian Insurance. The company will occupy two of the building's three blocks. "The main philosophy behind the design was to foster interaction and communication," says Justin Treacy, director of HKR Interior. Hibernian Insurance had a number of offices in Dublin and wanted a single, striking HQ building that would aid communication between staff.
