Dublin City Council has officially begun the process of listing the Bank of Ireland headquarters building on Baggot Street, Dublin 2. The city council published a notice last week stating that it proposed to add the building to the record of protected structures in the city’s 2005-2011 development plan. The idea of listing the building had been mooted in recent months but last week’s notice is the first formal step in the process. The building was sold last year by Salix, which is Bank of Ireland’s pension fund, to Derek Quinlan and Paddy Shovlin’s Quinlan Private and Landmark Developments respectively, for more than €200 million. Jones Lang LaSalle advised Salix on the sale and CBRE acted for the successful bidders.
