Sandyford planning ban frustrates builders

The Sunday Business Post

Several property developers are considering legal action against Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council after the council said it would reject planning applications for developments of more than two houses on sites in the Sandyford area in south Dublin. ‘‘Given the amount of land and money involved, different developers are looking at different angles, one of which is going the legal route," said one senior executive in a development firm. A spokeswoman for the council said it was not aware of the initiation of any legal action. The council will not allow any major developments in the Sandyford area until ‘‘the infrastructure deficit is determined and the council is satisfied the required measures can be implemented’’, according to the spokeswoman. Problems with foul waste, water supply and traffic have already been identified.
