Iarnrod Eireann on track to extend regional network

The Sunday Business Post

Iarnrod Eireann has applied for planning permission for three new train stations on the western rail corridor, and another at Dunkettle on the Cork to Midleton commuter rail line. As the first phase of the planned Galway to Limerick rail link, the national rail company is seeking permission from Galway County Council for stations at Gort, Ardrahan and Craughwell. It hopes to open the link next spring. Direct rail services between Limerick and Galway will begin then, following completion of the €106 million redevelopment of the line between Ennis in Clare and Athenry in Galway.
