Position and vision: In his exposed position on the gate to the sea the translucent sculpture is an attractive cultural and social meeting point in the future urban landscape of Dublin. As you approach the tower by boat from the sea, you are attracted by his simplicity and his formal tension. It becomes a vision between the classical ideal of a skyscraper and the modern language of art in architecture that is fulfilling all pretensions. The lines of a slightly curved platform start rising up and draw the contour in fluent moves on the facade. They expand until they reach out for the sky. A patchwork of glass and metal create a vertical image like an antique mosaic. Glimmering and bright during daylight, glowing in the night, the tower becomes a beauty. You see a shiny statue with a bronze crown.
Dublin! Mr. Bloom got his new watchtower.
